What it is
In AI Visibility, prompts are the questions sent to AI engines to measure how often and how prominently your brand appears in their answers.
Managing prompts includes:
Adding prompts manually, through Quick start, or by CSV import
Grouping prompts with topics
Applying tags
Reviewing prompt performance
Updating or removing prompts as your strategy changes
Well-organized prompts make AI Visibility reporting easier to understand and scale.
Why it matters
AI Visibility tracking is prompt-driven. The prompts you choose determine the questions, use cases, and competitive situations your brand is measured against.
A clear structure helps you:
Separate important business areas
Compare performance across product categories
Filter reporting for campaigns or initiatives
Identify gaps in prompt coverage
Keep credit usage focused on useful tracking
Adding prompts
You can add prompts in three ways:
Add prompts: Create your own prompts manually.
Quick start: Start with suggested topics and prompts.
Bulk import: Upload prompts and their settings from a CSV file.
For step-by-step instructions, see Adding and Configuring Prompts in AI Visibility.
Organizing prompts with topics and tags
Topics
Topics group related prompts into strategic categories.
For example, you might create topics for:
Product comparisons
Local services
Enterprise use cases
Informational content
Brand and competitor research
Topics can be used to review AI Visibility performance for a particular area of your strategy.
Tags
Tags provide an additional way to organize prompts across different topics.
Use tags for:
Campaigns
Priority level
Funnel stage
Customer segment
Reporting groups
For example:
High priority
Competitor comparisons
Q4 campaign
Enterprise
Informational
Topics are best for broad strategic groups. Tags are useful for flexible reporting and filtering across those groups.
The Prompts page
Open Prompts in the AI Visibility section to view your tracked prompts.
The table shows the prompts you are tracking and their performance across selected AI engines.
You can use it to:
Search for a specific prompt
Filter the displayed data
Group prompts
Review prompt-level performance
Add new prompts
The same prompt can appear separately for different AI engines. This lets you review engine-specific AI Visibility results rather than combining all engine responses into one result.
Reviewing prompt performance
The Prompts table provides a quick view of how each prompt is performing.
Depending on the current view, you can review metrics such as:
Visibility score
Detection rate
AI engine
Prompt
Topic or tag grouping
Use this view to identify prompts where:
Your brand is consistently visible
Your brand is not being mentioned
Results vary significantly between engines
A prompt may need to be refined or reprioritized
Open a prompt to investigate its individual AI results and execution history in more detail.
Updating and removing prompts
Review your prompt set regularly and update it as your priorities change.
You may want to update, pause, or remove prompts when:
The wording is too broad or unclear
The prompt no longer matches your current offering
Several prompts overlap heavily
A campaign or product line has ended
You want to change the topic, tags, region, engines, or schedule
Removing a prompt stops future tracking for that prompt. Its existing results remain part of the data already collected.
Best practices
Use prompts that reflect real customer questions.
Assign topics to keep strategic areas separate.
Use tags for campaigns, priority levels, and reporting segments.
Track high-priority prompts across the AI engines most relevant to your audience.
Avoid duplicate prompts unless you intentionally need different configurations.
Review prompt performance before expanding tracking volume.
Use Bulk import when adding a structured prompt library at scale.
