Adding and Configuring Prompts in AI Visibility

Learn how to add prompts manually, use Quick start suggestions, import prompts from CSV, and configure the engines, region, tags, and schedule used for AI Visibility tracking..

What it is

Prompts are the questions sent to selected AI engines to measure your brand’s visibility in AI-generated answers.

When adding prompts, you choose the settings that apply to them, including:

  • AI engines

  • Region

  • Schedule

  • Tags

  • Optional topic

These settings determine how and when the prompts are run and how their results appear in AI Visibility reporting.

Why it matters

Prompts are the foundation of AI Visibility tracking. Well-structured prompts help you monitor the questions your audience is likely to ask AI engines and compare your brand’s presence across different engines.

Use clear, realistic prompts that reflect:

  • Questions customers may ask

  • Product or service comparisons

  • Category and informational searches

  • Problems your product helps solve

  • Topics important to your business

Ways to add prompts

You can add prompts in three ways:

  1. Add prompts: Enter your own prompts manually.

  2. Quick start: Select suggested topics and prompts.

  3. Bulk import: Upload prompts and their settings from a CSV file.

1. Add prompts manually

Use the Add prompts tab to create your own prompts.

You can enter one prompt at a time or add several prompts in the same window.

Configure the prompt settings

Before adding prompts, select the settings you want to apply.

Tags

Tags help you organize prompts for filtering and reporting later.

Choose an existing tag or create a new one.

Topic

Topics are optional. Use them to group related prompts, such as product categories, customer use cases, or campaign themes.

Region

Choose the region the prompts should use. The selected region is applied to the prompts you add in that session.

AI engines

Select one or more AI engines to run your prompts.

The available engines are shown in the AI engines section. Select More to view additional options.

Schedule

Choose how often the prompts should run:

  • Every day

  • Every 2 days

  • Every week

  • Every 2 weeks

  • Manual

A manual prompt runs only when you choose to run it.

Add your prompts

Enter or paste your prompt into the prompt field.

You can:

  • Click Add prompt to add another prompt

  • Use Enter to start the next prompt

  • Use Shift + Enter to add a new line within the same prompt

  • Use prompt suggestions from the Suggestions section

  • Select Add all to add all available suggestions

Before saving, review the estimated monthly credit usage shown at the bottom of the window.

When ready, click Add prompts.

2. Use Quick start suggestions

The Quick start tab helps you start with suggested prompt topics and questions.

The suggestions are tailored to the project’s domain and selected industry. You can change the suggested industry if needed.

How Quick start works

  1. Select one or more suggested topics.

  2. Review the prompts included under each topic.

  3. Remove individual prompts you do not want to track.

  4. Add your own prompt to a topic if needed.

  5. Choose the AI engines, region, and tags.

  6. Review the credit estimate.

  7. Click Add prompts.

Each selected topic is added as its own prompt group, making it easier to organize and filter results later.

You can also select Add your own topic to create a custom topic and add prompts manually.

3. Import prompts in bulk

Use Bulk import to upload many prompts from a CSV file.

The import process lets you add prompts together with their topic, tags, region, AI engines, and schedule.

How to import prompts

  1. Open the Bulk import tab.

  2. Download the CSV template.

  3. Add your prompt data while keeping the column headers unchanged.

  4. Upload the completed .csv file.

  5. Map the columns.

  6. Review the imported prompts.

  7. Confirm the import.

The import flow includes four stages:

  1. Upload

  2. Map columns

  3. Review

  4. Import

CSV files can be uploaded up to 1 MB.

Bulk import is useful for:

  • Large prompt libraries

  • Agency onboarding

  • Structured topic plans

  • Migrating prompts from another system

Credit estimate

The Add prompts window displays your current AI Visibility credit limit and an estimated monthly credit cost before you save.

Credit usage depends on the number of prompts, selected AI engines, and schedule.

Review the estimate before adding a large group of prompts, especially when using frequent schedules or multiple engines.

For more information, see How AI Visibility credits work.

What happens after adding prompts

Once prompts are added:

  • They appear in the Prompts page

  • They begin running based on their selected schedule

  • Results are added to AI Visibility reporting as runs are completed

  • You can filter and analyze results by engine, region, tag, and topic

New prompts begin collecting data from their first completed run. Historical results are not added retroactively.

Best practices

  • Use prompts that reflect realistic customer questions.

  • Group related prompts with topics.

  • Use tags to support reporting and campaign analysis.

  • Start with your highest-priority questions and expand over time.

  • Review the monthly credit estimate before saving.

  • Avoid adding duplicate prompts unless you intentionally want to track different settings.

  • Use Quick start to build an initial prompt set, then refine it with your own questions.
