What it is
The Google Search Console (GSC) integration connects your GSC property to a Keyword.com project.
Once connected, it adds:
Clicks
Impressions
Click-Through Rate (CTR)
directly into your Keyword Ranking Table.
It also powers Keyword Intelligence, which helps you discover keywords you rank for organically but are not yet tracking.
Why it matters
Rank alone doesn’t show impact.
With GSC connected, you can:
Identify keywords with high impressions but low CTR
Prioritize keywords by traffic opportunity
Connect ranking movements to real click changes
Discover new keywords you already rank for
This turns Keyword.com from a rank tracker into a performance-driven optimization tool.
What data is added
After connecting GSC, the following columns appear in your Ranking Table:
Column | Description |
Clicks | The number of clicks from a Google search result that landed the user on your property. |
Impressions | How many links to your site a user saw on Google search results.
Impressions are counted when the user visits that page of results, even if the result was not scrolled into view. However, if a user views only page 1 but the result is on page 2, the impression is not counted. |
Click though Rate - CTR | This is the click count divided by the impression count.
If a row of data has no impressions, the CTR will be shown as a dash (-) because CTR would be division by zero. |
These metrics update automatically once connected.
Keyword Intelligence (Powered by GSC)
Once GSC is connected, Keyword Intelligence is enhanced with keyword suggestions.
This feature:
Scans your GSC data
Identifies queries generating impressions or clicks
Highlights keywords not currently tracked
Allows you to add them to tracking
This helps you expand your keyword portfolio using real organic performance data.
How data is collected & updated
When keywords are added or edited, GSC data updates within approximately 8 hours
After initial sync, data refreshes automatically every 24 hours
Triggering an on-demand keyword refresh also updates GSC data
⚠️ Important comparison note:
When comparing data inside Google Search Console, use:
Date: Last 28 days
Query: The keyword you are reviewing
Country: The same region set in Keyword.com
Numbers may not match 100% due to update timing and Google aggregation methods.
How to connect Google Search Console
Step 1: Navigate to Integrations
Click your profile icon (top right)
Select Google Search Console
Step 2: Connect account
Click Connect Account
Authenticate with your Google account
Step 3: Select property
Choose the correct GSC property
Select the project you want to associate it with
Start collecting data
‼️ Important: Google Account limitations
You can only have one Google account connected at a time.
This means:
Only properties accessible through the connected Google account will collect data.
If you switch to a different Google account, data collection will stop for projects linked to properties under the previously connected account.
Best practice
It is strongly recommended to:
Use one master Google account
Grant that account access to all your customer GSC properties
This ensures uninterrupted data collection across all projects.
You can switch Google accounts at any time, but doing so will immediately stop GSC updates for any projects that are not accessible under the newly connected account.
To switch Google account:
Click your profile icon (top right)
Select Google Search Console
Click the Switch Google icon and connect new account
Permissions requirement
The connected Google account must have access to the relevant Search Console property.
If you manage multiple domains, ensure:
The Google account has access to all required properties
You select the correct property during setup
Troubleshooting
Data not appearing?
Confirm the correct property is selected
Ensure region settings match between GSC and Keyword.com
Wait up to 8 hours after adding new keywords
Verify the connected Google account has access to the property
Data looks different from GSC?
Check whether:
The connected Google account was switched
Access permissions were removed in Google Search Console
If you switched Google accounts, data collection will stop for all projects tied to properties not accessible by the currently connected account.
Reconnect the correct Google account to resume data collection.
Best practices
Use GSC data to identify CTR optimization opportunities
Sort by Impressions to prioritize impact
Use Keyword Intelligence monthly to expand tracking
Combine GSC metrics with ranking movement data for decision-making
